WheelAir is joining forces with a Scandinavian partner to deliver a live webinar next week on heat, moisture and microclimate regulation for wheelchair users.
The WheelAir clinical education team is partnering with Norwegian assistive technology company, Inpo, to host the online event on Tuesday 26 August, 2021 from 9am to 10am.
Clinical research coordinator, Nienke Conijn, and managing director, Corien Staels, will be presenting at the webinar, alongside members of the Inpo team.
The webinar is aimed at clinicians who work with people with adaptive support needs, such as wheelchair users, who struggle with temperature regulation in a sitting position or those who experience these problems first-hand.
It will focus on the importance of regulating temperature and humidity in maintaining a healthy microclimate. Heat and moisture are well-known risk factors for serious health complications, such as pressure injuries, heat rash and muscle spasms.
The event comes after WheelAir recently launched its clinical assessment toolkit which is designed to help clinicians evaluate clients’ heat and moisture symptoms and related risks.
The WheelAir system itself is the first temperature control and ventilation system for wheelchairs. It allows for self-regulation of wheelchair users’ body temperature through convection, conduction and evaporation heat loss.
Inpo, WheelAir’s new Scandinavian distribution partner, is an assistive technology company that supplies products and information about technical aids and functional principles that help those who require assistive technology to live a better life.
