TGA hunting for specialist dealers to distribute innovative powerchair


Mobility supplier TGA is looking for the final few retailers who it will appoint as distributing partners of the innovative WHILL powerchair.

TGA is searching for around seven retailers who will all receive technical training in line with the service level the WHILL requires.

Retailing at £11,995, the WHILL is a very high-end powerchair. As such, TGA wants partnerships with retailers who are able to provide an exceptional level of service.

Eric Cooper, product manager, explained to Access & Mobility Professional: “We’ve already chosen four distributors who have gone through what we’re reluctant to call an assessment process, because what we’ve looked for are not necessarily the biggest dealers but dealers we know will buy into the WHILL philosophy.”

He continued: “Our expectation is that because of the type of product it is it will probably take 12 months to establish itself in the UK market. Within our business plan we’ve taken quite a long term perspective of it and the other important thing is that we very much buy into the WHILL brand and philosophy.”

The powerchair is the first of a series of WHILL products TGA will be bringing to UK dealers and it already has a prototype of the next model.

Following on from its success in Japan and America, the WHILL is targeting the lifestyle market as much as the mobility market.

WHILL granted TGA UK distribution rights and it launched into the UK market at Naidex last week.
