TGA Mobility has showcased its offering at the largest virtual international disability event of its kind.
The main event which took place yesterday, is followed by video seminars, workshops and events until October 31.
DAD is a ‘pan disability event which promotes a culture that focuses on what disabled people can do’.
Dave Thompson MBE founded the organising charity Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP) in 1991 and the annual DAD event in 1992.
Traditionally held in a tented village on the grounds of Walton Hall, Warrington, DAD provides a wide range of assistive product displays, workshops, advice and entertainment for disabled adults and children. It has inspired similar events across the world and has been visited several times by members of the royal family, the Minster for Disabled People and received a Red Arrows flypast.
WDP was presented with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services in 2006 and has raised over £1,000,000 for good causes.
Last year, the event was supported by 260 exhibitors with over 25,000 visitors attending on the day.
The event has run for 28 years and welcomed over 600,000 people, however due to the pandemic, the 2020 event is online at dadvirtual.org.uk.
This year there will be over 200 virtual exhibitors including TGA, who can be found in marquee 3.
Daniel Stone, TGA’s managing director, said: “It’s great that DAD is able to continue highlighting some of the latest mobility solutions by taking the event online.
“It’s such an important event and we are delighted to participate. On the stand we will be displaying a guide for occupational therapists, our Freedom newsletter featuring customer stories and also our brochure which we hope will show just how varied mobility scooters can be.”
While Dave Thompson added: “This year we have the advantage of reaching more disabled people worldwide through the internet.
“We are delighted product specialists such as TGA are supporting the event as this means virtual visitors will have access to trusted mobility solutions for freedom with peace of mind. Covid-19 has given us all new challenges so DAD is the perfect opportunity for people to discover ways to protect their mental health, improve wellbeing and benefit from new opportunities – ultimately making sure everyone continues to enjoy life and fulfil their potential.”
