Acorn Mobility has been named as one of the fastest-growing companies in the Leeds region after increasing sales by more than £60 million in its last three financial years.
A combined project by TheBusinessDesk.com and Experian to identify leading northern businesses named the top 50 fastest-expanding companies in cities including Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool.
Leeds companies alone increased revenues by nearly £3 billion over the last two years and between them they turn over almost £6.5 billion.
Acorn Mobility, which is the industry’s second largest stairlift supplier behind Stannah, had the fourth highest turnover out of the top 50 companies from Leeds.
Acorn has consistently achieved record sales in the last few years and operating profit has increased steadily to £20 million.
It was named alongside the likes of Jet2.com owner Dart Group and power company CNG Group.
Alex Turner, joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “The businesses in the list are a mix of household names and hidden gems, but they are all playing a key role in the city region.
“Through job and wealth creation, and the impact their growth has on companies that work with them, these businesses are strengthening the economy of the city region and of the North.”
A recent Which? report accused Acorn of malpractices including high pressure sales tactics. The company is currently being investigated by the BHTA.
Acorn said that it was disappointed by Which?’s findings and that the report does not reflect the “extremely positive” feedback it receives from its customers.
