Scootamart has crossed the border opening a new store in Dundee.

Located in the Wellgate Shopping Centre, the store opened on Monday and according to Spencer Coe, managing director of the firm, it has also received a “fantastic welcome from the local community.”

He told AMP: “Our aim was to creep up the M6 to Scotland and reach Dundee but the opportunity for an excellent retail outlet came up so we had to grab it.

“We aim to build the staff adding experienced advisors so we can branch out linking Dundee to Lancashire.”

Wellgate Shopping Centre is one of two large shopping centres in the city and comprises two shopping floors and a third floor which contains a food court.

On what it means for the business, Coe continued: “We supply/service to so many customers in Scotland that we are travelling back and forth 2 or 3 times a week so it makes sense to open a retail outlet with service centre to improve delivery/repair times and hopefully inherit many more customers in the process.”

“We do have plans to open more shops in Scotland but recruitment is essential to the speed of growth. We must have staff with experience and the store running smoothly before we open the next store.”

In 2018, AMP spoke to Coe about his business as part of AMP’s ‘Big Interview’ series.
