Rehasense UK has announced the launch of its Power Assisted Wheelchair Systems (PAWS), which have been designed to provide extra power to a standard wheelchair, enabling increased independence and the ability to travel further afield.

Set to be showcased at Naidex in September, there are three models in the PAWS range – the City, Cruiser and Tourer, with each model being available with automatic or manual clamp and lift systems.

Depending on the terrain being travelled, the PAWS has a range of up to 25 miles and can be charged from empty in five hours.

Standard features include forward/reverse mode, traction control for when setting off on a slippery surface or slope, cruise control to remove the need to permanently hold the throttle and Walk Mode which allows the user to set the speed at 2.5 mph.

PAWS requires no frame alteration or additional add-ons to the wheelchair.

Rehasense managing director Lee French said: “We are delighted to be launching the PAWS range in the UK.  PAWS is the only wheelchair power add-on system available in the UK to offer a fully automatic clamp and lift system and is a great addition to our ever-growing product portfolio.  As part of the launch, we are looking to appoint specialist dealers around the UK and I would urge anyone interested to get in touch.”
