Prism Medical’s retail partners could benefit from greater support on products, training and servicing in the wake of its acquisitions of suppliers Assured Healthcare and Care-ability.

The UK manufacturer completed two mergers in the space of a few weeks, taking on a Scottish specialist in lifting and bathing equipment and a North East provider of moving and handling products.

Prism’s latest acquisitions are its first since the group was purchased at the end of 2018 by Limerston Capital.

A spokesperson for Prism has said that its broadened product offering and increased capabilities are likely to benefit the supplier’s dealer partners.

Chris Dawson, sales and marketing manager at Prism, said: “[The acquisitions] increase the manufacturing and servicing footprints, meaning that we can offer a quicker response on product supply as well as being able to offer a greater reach on product support, training and servicing.”

Expanding its UK operations has also made the manufacturer nimbler and better able to adapt to market challenges, Dawson said.

“Adding products to the range is important as a manufacturer so that Prism can provide all of the products needed for the best overall solution for our clients.

“Manufacturing in the UK enables Prism to react quickly to market changes and provides protection from importing challenges, like lead times, quality control and exchange rates.

“In addition to the manufacturing sites, with a network of depots around the UK, Prism are in position to provide a local support service to back up the UK manufactured product range.”

Aside from enabling the acquisitions, Limerston Capital’s purchase of Prism has allowed the equipment firm to invest in its operations to improve efficiency and services.

The company operates from eight UK locations, employing around 450 staff delivering a portfolio of 180 products.

When Limerston bought the company, Prism’s CEO Stuart Meldrum outlined an intention to expand its geographic coverage in the UK.
