Most mobility retailers are prepared to go beyond the call of duty to help their customers, whether it’s providing free after-sales support or putting those extra phone calls in to get the exact spec of product they want.
But Liam Richards, a delivery driver for NRS Healthcare, took things one step further during a delivery in June when he saved the life of a customer in trouble.
Liam found a client, Jean Ryan, on the floor after a fall and proceeded to call an ambulance, staying with the grandmother until paramedics and family arrived, before leaving to carry on with his deliveries.
According to Ms Ryan’s family, Liam made her comfortable with a pillow and dressing gown to keep her warm. He also applied something cold to the wound on her face.
Leicestershire-based NRS Healthcare, which is a major supplier to the NHS, prides itself on inspiring customers to buy with confidence and trust, so the letter it received from Mrs Ryan’s family, expressing their gratitude for his deed, is testimony to the extent to which it instills its values through the business.
In a sector where the wrong actions can quickly damage a company’s reputation, Liam’s exploits demonstrate just why NRS places so much emphasis on encouraging staff to put people first. It’s also why he finds himself deservedly completing AMP’s list of ‘Rising Stars’.
