Permobil is supporting Innova’s new ‘InnovaLive’ webinar initiative.
The second training event, ‘Reaching client goals with power wheelchairs,’ is now available to book.
It aims to provide an evidence-based approach to power seat and standing functions, with the company hoping it can build on the success of the first virtual CPD on hoists and hydrotherapy pools.
Ramsey Hulbert, Innova’s in-house specialist, will be delivering the session alongside Arne Compernolle, clinical & training manager for Permobil EMEA.
Innova explained how it has tailored the webinar content to occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and case managers; detailing how there is a strong focus on the evidence supporting power wheelchair provision – from both academic research and client case studies.
It will be looking at the functional and clinical benefits associated with powerchair functions. There will also be lots of takeaways clinicians can apply to help improve client outcomes and reach their goals.
As part of the release, Innova set out the three key learning outcomes:
- To understand the different power seat functions, and the potential outcomes they can facilitate for clients
- Explore the functional and clinical benefits of using the standing function
- And understand the real-world experiences of power wheelchair users through client interviews.
Ahead of the webinar, Ramsey said: “I’ve worked on posture management and wheelchair specifications for over 15 years. Power wheelchairs are great because there are so many ways you can customise them to suit individual users.”
Adding: “Combining different components and functions lets you adapt the chair to help clients reach their goals. You can continually make changes as their needs change. Newer innovations, like standing functions, have taken what you can achieve for mobility status, participation, and quality of life to the next level. I’m looking forward to sharing some of our clients’ experiences.”
As the webinar is supported by Permobil themselves, more specific powerchair model questions can be asked.
The webinar will be hosted on September 17.
