A new Which?-style product review website is to launch which will allow disabled customers to post and read reviews online about mobility equipment they have bought.

Independent-living charity Rica will set up ‘Rate It!’ with a £150,000 grant it has won and the site will be run in partnership with Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living (LCIL) and Enabled by Design.

Managed by RICA, the project will be led by disabled people including Laura Horton from (LCIL) and Denise Stevens from Enabled by Design  with Nikki Stopford from Which? providing input and advice to the project.

The new rating site, expected to be up and running by early next year, will aim to increase the transparency surrounding mobility products and will provide more clarity to customers shopping around for equipment.

“Disabled people often can’t find independent information on new products and, like everyone else, want to read and share user reviews. The Rate It! project will raise awareness of products and help people make informed choices before buying products, which can enable independent living. Rate It! aims to fill that information gap,” commented Jon Quinn, RICA’s CEO.

Rica (formerly Ricability) is the trading name of the national research charity Research Institute for Consumer Affairs. It focuses specifically on issues of concern to disabled and older consumers.
