MOTABILITY: Scheme addresses COVID developments in latest update

Motability has updated customers and the wider industry on COVID-19 developments and what they mean for the scheme.

It explained that as the COVID-19 situation changes, Motability understands that customers have a number of questions and therefore continues to update the page regularly to ensure FAQs are covered.

As of 5 November 2020 new national restrictions mean that dealership showrooms in England have had to close, however service departments can remain open.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland dealerships currently remain open and are operating in a COVID-safe environment, with social distancing measures in place, while dealership showrooms in Wales are now able to open again following a short ‘firebreak’ lockdown which ended on November 9.

As this situation is changing rapidly and local restrictions apply, Motability says if you are due to visit a dealership, please contact them directly to check on the current situation in your area.

The Scheme remains open to support customers during this time and it may be possible for car handovers to go ahead and new applications to be placed, however this is subject to local restrictions and the ability of your dealership to safely operate within these restrictions.
