MOTABILITY: Date set for new customer applications and updated FAQs


Motability has confirmed that from July 1, new customers will be able to place an application with the organisation.

It explained that now that handovers for cars ordered before lockdown and new orders from existing customers are underway, it can open to new customers.

Current Scheme prices are now available, meaning that customers can choose their new car from the range of almost 2,000 makes and models.

It went on to confirm that pricing will be updated as usual on July 1.

As part of its statement, Motability said: “Please bear in mind that some dealers remain closed and all dealers are likely to be busier than usual. Your dealer will have social distancing measures in place, so you must contact your dealer to make an appointment and find out in advance how COVID-19 is affecting their services. You can find contact details and opening hours for all Scheme dealers here.”

Adding: “If your chosen car isn’t in stock it may well take longer to deliver than usual, so it may be worth considering alternative manufacturers with similar cars. If your new car isn’t ready when you’re due to return your current car we will extend your lease to ensure you stay mobile.”

Motability went on to address how as dealers are gradually starting to reopen in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, with Scotland expected to follow from next week, it asks for patience and understanding as it adjusts to the new social distancing measures in place.

It reassured customers that the scheme will continue to support where possible to help them remain mobile during this time.

Its customer services team is currently dealing with a high volume of calls, so has released an updated FAQs as the situation continues to change.
