Motability customers able to place orders from June 8

Motability customers approaching the end of a lease, or who have had their leases extended during lockdown, will be able to place a renewal application for the scheme from June 8.

Current Scheme prices are now also available, meaning that customers can choose their new car from the range of around 2,000 makes and models.

After weeks of dealer closures and disruption, the Scheme took a phased approach to reopening for applications.

In a news release, the organisation explained: “We are giving immediate priority to customers who had ordered a vehicle before lockdown. Handovers for these customers are now underway and new orders from existing customers can start from next week.”

Adding: “Please bear in mind that some dealers remain closed and all dealers are likely to be busier than usual. Your dealer will have social distancing measures in place, so you must contact your dealer to make an appointment and find out in advance how COVID-19 is affecting their services.

“Unfortunately we are still unable to accept applications from people wishing to join the Scheme as we work through our backlog of existing customer orders.”
