Crawley based retailer Wings Mobility has launched a new campaign called SHOP LOCAL which is designed to promote local independent businesses over national chain firms.

Business owner Ajmer Phul said that in spite of cheaper internet products there are times when people need personal advice, especially when it comes to mobility aids.

Wings’ campaign comes after it presented an elderly burglary victim with a brand new mobility scooter.

91-year-old Terry Lowes had £1,000 cash taken from his home which he had been saving to purchase a new mobility scooter.

Immediately after hearing about the theft Mr Phull got in touch with the gentleman to offer him a new scooter.

Mr Phull told Crawley 24: “I am so happy that we were able to help.  Crawley is not a huge place and we all need to help each other.  This is exactly how local business is able to help the local community.”

Mr Lowes was also provided with three months free insurance and a shopping bag courtesy of Wings Mobility.

The business offers three months free insurance to all customers buying a new mobility scooter.
