The Big Event, the UK’s largest display of vehicles for disabled people, will move online this year.

Organiser Mobility Operations, which operates the Mobility Scheme, said that government advice on COVID-19 and “uncertainty regarding future restrictions” means that it has cancelled all physical events this year.

However, disabled motorists and their families keen to find out more about the scheme, including new car makes and models, advice on adaptations, and powered wheelchairs and scooters, can now do so from their own homes this summer.

The Big Event will take place on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 August 2021.

Louise Vranic, The Big Event event organiser at Motability Operations, said: “In this ‘new normal’ world, we still want to try and give customers and their families a fun and information-packed way to learn more about the Scheme’s worry-free motoring package.  The Big Event will give disabled motorists the opportunity to find out all they need to know about the Scheme with information about how to join, displays of the wide range of the cars, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, scooters and wheelchairs available to lease, and information on adaptations too. Scheme experts will also share information and answer questions.

“We were incredibly disappointed to have to cancel the physical event programme for 2021 but we’re excited to be bringing a virtual version of The Big Event to our customers online. We really hope to back in 2022 with the One Big Day events we all know and love.”
