Mobility Matters eyes new scooter storage and distribution centre in Irvine

Mobility Matters has submitted a bid to planners to open a new store on the Scottish west coast.

The application is to change the use of a vacant yoga studio at MacAdam Place, South Newmoor Industrial Estate in Irvine.

According to a report from the Irvine Times, if it goes ahead, the centre would also create three new local jobs.

Commenting on the proposed move, Robert Frew of Mobility Matters said: “We are hoping to open a Mobility Shop in Irvine to serve the community a fair deal when buying Mobility Aids.

“We feel that being away from the Town Centre will help customers with parking and be able to test out their purchases before buying without disturbance to other shoppers. We are aware some people feel embarrassed about their disability and we can offer more of a personal service.”

Adding: “We currently have customers on our books that stay in the Irvine Area and we feel it will benefit them if we opened up a shop in the area to save the customer any extra expenses of travelling to another Town or City.”
