The BHTA stairlift section’s charity initiative, #BHTASeptember, is launching today and will see mobility firms around the country step up to the walking challenge.
Participants are challenged to walk 10,000 steps every day for this month in an effort to raise money for disability charity Scope.
By the end of the month successful participants will have completed at least 300,000 steps, around 150 miles.
All the raised money will be used to help Scope make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
One company taking part it Companion Stairlifts which hopes its staff will walk 2,700 miles between them over the course of the month.
Companion, which provides home adaptations including stairlifts and accessible bathrooms, has entered a team of 18.
Companion’s Ian Dysart said: “Helping people with disabilities live life to the full is something we’re all committed to here at Companion. The Steptember Challenge is a fantastic idea and we’re all looking forward to smashing the 10,000 steps daily target – we’ve even got a treadmill in the office so people can walk while they work.”
