Car dealer, Swansway Group, has announced their largest-ever donation to Circus Starr, an accessible circus event for disabled children and their families.
Despite all sales showrooms being closed throughout the three months of the year, Swansway customers ordered 292 mobility vehicles, creating a donation of £5,840 to the event, which is set to return with its Big Top Tour this year.
Swansway Group partnered with Lewis Reed, the official Volkswagen WAV converter in the UK, in 2012 and, for every vehicle sold through their Motability Scheme, the company donates £20 to enable a child and a carer to visit Circus Starr.
Swansway Group Director, David Smyth said: “We’re so looking forward to seeing Circus Starr return and we can’t wait to see the smiles on all of the children’s, and their families’ faces.”
“Being able to continue our support over the last 12 months has been so important to us and we hope everyone can return to enjoy the shows soon”.
Sarah Hall, Communications and Engagement Manager at Circus Starr commented: “There is no denying that this past year has been tough, and it’s been tough on so many of the families who we usually get to see every year at our shows and bring some joy to. The support from Swansway Group really is invaluable and we can’t say thank you enough.
“We hope to see our children and families again soon and get our fabulous show back out on the road.”
The Motability Scheme is open to anyone in receipt of higher rate mobility allowance, such as the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment or the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance.
