Millbrook Healthcare has launched an electric van pilot as part of its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.

The pilot, which is part of the Millbrook Healthcare’s zero emission vehicle testing to decide the future of its 450 van fleet, will be held in Welwyn Garden Centre, Hertfordshire, Somerset, Surrey and Barnet and will assess its viability in different service centres.

Phil Campling, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This pilot is an important part of our plan to reduce our carbon footprint, which is in line with our value of socially responsible, ethical and transparent.”

Phil Elkin, Group Procurement Director, added: “I’m pleased that we’re able to test the 100% electric van in different locations, to understand their effectiveness for different services and am looking forward to hearing our drivers’ experiences on the use of the electric van.”

Millbrook Healthcare said the pilot was the beginning of its journey to understand any challenges with electric vehicles and how it can adapt and put in place solutions for continuous operational efficiency and meet with the government policy to ban the sale of new diesel and petrol light commercial vehicles for 2030.
