Medequip bosses take to two wheels for Alzheimer’s Society

Medequip’s head of retail, Matt Ward, and general manager, David Whitaker, have taken part in a 100 mile cycling challenge to raise money for the company’s nominated charity.

The pair crossed the line of the Vélo Birmingham & Midlands road bike challenge in around five-and-a-half hours.

They raised over £1000 for the Alzheimer’s Society and both finished in the top 10% of 17,000 riders.

Vélo Birmingham & Midlands covers a tough closed road route that takes in a combination of panoramic countryside views, pretty villages, two city centres and a few iconic climbs.

Both are keen cyclists with a considerable amount of experience and enjoyed combining their chosen sport with an opportunity to raise money for one of the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity.

Medequip has been supporting The Alzheimer’s Society for almost two years now and events and challenges staged across the company have raised a total of £40,000 to date.

Partnership with the charity has also enabled the company to further the cause of dementia awareness within its own ranks.
