Exertis, a leading distributor of technology products for the business, Pro AV, enterprise, mobile and retail markets, has gained level 2 Disability Confident Employer status.
This initiative from the Dept of Works & Pensions aims to create a movement of change and encourages employers to think differently about disability to take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
The accreditation also helps customers and other businesses identify those employers who are committed to equality in the workplace.
Samantha King, Exertis’ recruitment manager, said: “We are delighted to have secured Disability Confident Employer status. Exertis wants to be recognised as a business that strives to be inclusive of everyone, wants to tap into skills and experience wherever they are found and supports everyone to give their best, ultimately benefiting our business.”
Adding: “This accreditation will help us recruit and retain great people, drawing from the widest possible pool of talent and securing high-quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working.”
Exertis gained its level 2 Disability Confident Employer status by carrying out the self-assessment, testing the business against a set of statements about recruiting and retaining disabled people.
There are approximately 15,000 organisations in the UK who have gained the status and are reaping the benefits of inclusive recruitment practices.
The accreditation lasts for three years and during this period companies can look to gain the level 3 accreditation – an independent validation of the criteria, referred to as Disability Confident Leader.
