Karma’s fears over new powerchair pricing allayed by positive reaction from dealers

Mark Duffield

Karma Mobility is delighted with the reaction that its new products have got from dealers – particularly a powerchair that pushes it into a higher price point – as it enjoyed a solid start to Trade Days yesterday.

The West Midlands-based supplier typically looks to roll out one or two new lines at shows it exhibits at, but this year it has brought no less than four new products to market.

Managing director, Mark Duffield, said it was encouraging that the VIP2 tilt-in model, E-Flexx and two new manual wheelchairs were all well-received by dealers that passed by its stand yesterday.

He said he was particularly encouraged that the new powerchair, which carries an RRP of £2,995, went down so well.

“I did wonder whether it would be too expensive, so we held off on that one initially even though we could have had that earlier if we had wanted it. But the reaction from the market to it has been good. It is more expensive than the chairs we are used to but it carries a lot of new technology.”

Mr Duffield is hoping for a busy day today, noting that the show is vital for shining a light on the direction of future product roll-outs.

“It is all about showing new product lines for us, but we also use shows like this to gauge whether potential new lines are viable or not,” he explained.
