JOBS BOARD: Apprenticeship in Bicycle Mechanics


Location: Quest head office: Aston Street, Shifnal, Shropshire TF11 8DW

Pay rate: £4.35 p/h

Details of the role:

Build and PDI adaptive manual and electric cycles and recumbent tricycles, working with an experienced cycle mechanic in our Shifnal workshop, supporting the company’s national activities in the inclusive cycling market.

Outline of day to day duties: 

Build adaptive tricycles and PDI ready for despatch. Quest’s cycles are very individual and not repetitive, giving the person in this role a varied and interesting learning and work experience. Learn ways to create customised adaptions to enable disabled riders including amputees to overcome their limitations. Support at national events such as Superherotri at Dorney lake.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30 – 5pm, Friday 8:30 – 4pm

Training (18 months):

On job, under experienced cycle mechanic of 20 years

ACT – Cytech online Theory One, ACT – Cytech Technical Two

ACT – Cytech Technical Three, Online ALO study modules

Functional Skills Level 1 or 2 in maths and English

Regular workplace visits by Training Officer/Coach
