An estate in the Lake District is aiming to make the surrounding countryside more accessible for guests by working with a local charity providing heavy duty mobility equipment.

The Langdale Estate welcomes over 42,000 guests each year and is home to Brimstone Hotel, Langdale Hotel and 100 timeshare lodges.

It has teamed up with Lake District Mobility – a local charity working to make outdoor trails in the Lake District accessible to people with disabilities or limited mobility to offer two Trampers for guests to hire during their stay.

Trampers are all-terrain mobility scooters that have been specifically designed to cover rough ground, mud and grass safely and enable guests with mobility difficulties to access local walks and landscapes without the need for a car.

Both Brimstone Hotel and Langdale Hotel have invested in accessible rooms and all Langdale Estate’s facilities are accessible to wheelchair users.

The estate recently took on premium wheelchairs created by a partnership between two Cumbrian artisan businesses.

Fabric firm Cable & Blake and cabinet maker Cat’s Pawhave combined crafts to customise unique wheelchairs, which are free to use for guests at the estate.
