Handicare has undergone a management restructure which will see Paul Stockdill take charge of UK sales and each of the manufacturer’s sales channels given its own director.
The change in leadership is designed to support the stairlift manufacturer’s ambition to provide a stronger, strategic focus on sales and service needs.
The £62m turnover business has sites in the West Midlands and West Yorkshire and trades through a network of retail partners, as well as local authorities and supplying direct to end-users.
Paul Stockdill, who is a well-known face among dealers after helping to grow Handicare’s retail network, has been promoted to UK sales and marketing director and will work alongside recently-appointed customer and field service director Patrick Dignan.
Handicare’s restructuring will see it appoint separate government and trade sales managers to look after the individual sales channels.
It will mean there will be an individual specialist responsible for the dealer network and for helping retail partners to achieve growth with Handicare.
The restructure was prompted by the departure of David Harrison from the business.
UK managing director and commercial lead for stairlifts in EMEA, Clare Brophy, said: “I am extremely excited and energised by these changes as for the first time in our history we will have a single focus through leadership upon our functions regardless of which part of the organisation they sit within.”
Stockdill joined Handicare as national sales manager in 2016 and has been driving growth across Handicare’s trade (up 26% in 2018) and local authority (up 23% in 2018) business.
Dignan, who joined Handicare earlier this year from Autoglass, is responsible for all Handicare customers and their journey, including trade and end-users.
His task is to further drive for industry-leading customer experience across all channels, including trade.
Dignan said: “Our UK market share has grown with sales currently up by 9% which is fantastic in such a mature marketplace.
