An independently-run mobility aid centre in Grantham has opened its doors for business – and its owner is no stranger to the industry thanks to a long family association with the sector.

Prime Comfort is looking to provide a comprehensive range of equipment including wheelchairs, rollators, shopping trolleys, zimmer frames as well as footwear, stair lifts, toilet seats, recliner chairs and adjustable beds.

Rupert Stanton, who has been in the mobility industry for over two decades, is heading up the business venture.

Stanton told the Grantham Journal: “My dad owns a mobility shop in Rushden and my uncle owns two in Northampton. I have worked alongside my dad for many years. It feels like my family were born and bred into this industry.

“It is very difficult to find exactly what you need online. As every customer has different needs, the mobility industry needs to be largely bespoke. We give customers the opportunity to try an item before they make a purchase. We also offer home visits, where we will take two or three items for the customer to try out first.”

Prime Comfort will open six days a week, closing on a Sunday.

The company’s opening day video, celebrating its launch, can be viewed below.
