Financial forecasts for the global medical mobility aids market suggest it will enjoy a compound annual growth rate of 4.5% over the next four years.
The report from analyst firm Technavios includes medical mobility products in both low range and high range based on the end-user requirement.
In the period 2017 to 2021, manually assisted wheelchair purchases for medical use are expected to increase. To calculate the market size, the report considers the revenue generated from the sales of mobility scooters.
An analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The latest trend gaining momentum in the market is an increase in adoption of advanced mobility products. Clinical mobility products are used in healthcare facilities to facilitate the mobility of patients. Wheelchairs are manually-operated with the assistance of another person for moving a person from one place to another. Similarly, in operation theatres and patient wards, wheeled stretchers are used with the assistance of more than one person.”
One of the major factors hindering the growth of this market is high cost of clinical rollators.
The report comments that the clinical rollator is perceived as a low-end premium product, which is priced comparatively higher than other medical mobility aids such as stretchers and walkers.
In the report Technavios highlighted GF Health Products, Invacare, Sunrise Medical and Stryker as industry leaders. It also cited as Benmor Medical, Besco Medical, Bischoff & Bischoff, Briggs Healthcare, Daily Living, Evolution Technologies, Hoveround and Human Care as other prominent vendors.
