GET TO KNOW: Helena Greaves, national sales manager, Repose Furniture

How long have you worked for your current employer and  how did you get into the industry?

I have been with Repose for seven years. I have always enjoyed helping people and when the opportunity arose to combine this with a career, I knew I had to take the plunge and I have not regretted it for one moment.

What do you most enjoy about working in the industry?

Story continues below

I love the fact that our products really do make a difference to people’s lives. When you receive a thank you card from a customer or their friend or family explaining how much their new chair has improved their daily life and level of comfort it really does make the long hours worthwhile.

What’s the hardest part of your job?

Like anyone whose vehicle is basically their office, it is without a doubt dealing with traffic and not being able to get around fast enough — as my company vehicle isn’t a Ferrari…yet!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I have two: ‘planning and preparation prevent poor performance’ and ‘to fail to plan is to plan to fail’. They may both be clichés but they are also very true.

What’s your biggest achievement in the industry to date?

Being able to lift a single tilt-in-space chair all by myself (when no-one is looking!). On a serious note, I have just been promoted to the role of national sales manager, which isn’t a bad achievement!

Which other company (inside or outside the industry) do you most admire and why?

Virgin. Richard Branson manages to have his name on almost everything and despite running a huge empire he still always manages to come across as pretty relaxed (as does our MD Lisa!).

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy snowboarding and bootcamps. I am also partial to the occasional G&T, but never on a school night!

What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

Random flasher on a night in London.

If you could invite any four people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would they be?

Gary Barlow, David Beckham, Minnie Mouse and Tinkerbell.

Tell us something about yourself that none of your colleagues know?

I run through mud for fun!
