A family-run mobility dealer has been declared Northern Ireland’s best small business by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Bangor-based Stairlift Solutions narrowly missed out on the FSB’s ‘family business category’ but disappointment evaporated when it was instead announced as overall winner for Northern Ireland at the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards event this month.
The company, which will now progress to the overall UK awards later this year, operates across the whole of Northern Ireland and across the border in the Republic of Ireland.
Stairlift Solutions was founded in 2000 and is now run by Michael Wallace alongside his brother and sister.
Since opening a showroom in Bangor the dealer has branched into other areas of mobility aside from stairlifts. It now trades in scooters, riser recliner chairs, rollators, wheelchairs and more.
Mr Wallace said being a family business makes the company popular with consumers.
He told Farm Week: “People like knowing we are a local business, part of a community and bring a personal touch. They know they can trust and rely on us.”
It is understood that Stairlift Solutions is building on its expansion plans which include introducing new suppliers and adding to its team of engineers.
