Fife Shopmobility achieves 150,000 hires two decades after opening

Fife Shopmobility 150000th customer

A Shopmobility service in Fife recently completed its 150,000th  equipment hire and presented the lucky customer with a £50 shopping voucher.

Fife Shopmobility’s branch in Glenrothes has been operating for 23 years and the winning customer, Janet Fraser, has been using the service on an almost daily basis for more than 14 years.

The National Federation of Shopmobility (NFSUK) said that the milestone “reiterates the importance of what Shopmobility is able to provide for the community”.

A spokesperson said: “Mrs Fraser will not be the only Shopmobility client to use the service on such a regular basis. If the service didn’t exist, where would that leave people like Mrs Fraser?

In April last year, Fife Shopmobility revealed that it has received a total of £50,000 from just one donor in the last four years.

The landlords of the Glenrothes shopping centre donated the amount as part of their effort to help people with mobility impairments to visit and use the retail outlet. The shopping centre also provided Mrs Fraser with her £50 voucher.

NFSUK members provide over 5,000 pieces of mobility equipment to over 120,000 registered users around the UK.
