UK mobility dealers are being sought by All Terrain Wheelchairs, which would like to expand its retailer network.
Currently, the supplier of high-performance, off-road powerchairs has two dealers – one in Scotland and one in Ireland – but has admitted that it has been a challenge to find distributors who are willing to provide the aftersales support customers need.
Speaking to AMP at the Mobility Roadshow, director Richard Kusnierz said he would love to find a few more dealers to sell its products.
“It’s just trying to find people. I’d love another one, for example in Newcastle, on the East Coast, someone down in Cornwall. We do an awful lot of miles ourselves so it would be nice,” explained Kusnierz.
He added: “It can be a challenge to find dealers. Ten years so far and we’ve only ever found two reliable ones. A lot of places do scooters, commodes, walking sticks – you give them a powerchair, they’ll look at commission but sometimes they don’t want to do anything after so it can end up coming back on yourself. The aftersales is so important.”
The company tends to sell direct to end-users via its website, social media platforms and through advertising. But it would like more dealers so it can improve nationwide customer support.
Kusnierz said: “We have a distributor in Ireland and one on the West Coast of Scotland. That means customers up there can have the back-up on the chairs. If you’re in Scotland, five hours away from us, it’s better to have someone five minutes down the road you can call on. It’s nice to sell a chair alongside the back-up.”
