A Yorkshire stairlift manufacturer says it is evolving to become ‘a force to be reckoned with in the industry’ after it appointed three new figures to its management team as part of its ambitious plan to double turnover this year.
Bespoke Stairlifts, which sells solely to trade, has brought on ex-Autochair and Acorn veteran Jules Allen as its new sales and marketing director, who has 20 years of management and export experience in the mobility industry.
Tom Smith brings an additional two decades of experience as manager of UK dealer networks, also holding previous positions with large names from the stairlift and mobility aid sector. He will focus on increasing Bespoke Stairlifts’ UK dealer network.
Raimund Schupp has gained more than 20 years of knowledge from export sales management in manufacturing export businesses. He will concentrate on the company’s links with partners abroad to grow export sales.
Bespoke is known for reconditioned curved stairlifts but is now also manufacturing its own range of straight stairlifts to complement its existing curved collection.
As around 70% of the UK’s demand is for straight stairlifts, the business has diversified and now supplies all options to the country’s ageing population.
With turnover forecast to double this year and £500,000 invested in new machinery, Bespoke Stairlifts wants to gain a competitive edge against other big players in the market.
Managing director David Forsyth said that since he joined the company in 2017 it has made a number of changes and the latest three appointments show how the business is “evolving and growing into a real force to be reckoned with in the industry”.
“Bringing Jules, Tom and Raimund into the team has been a calculated move to help us take the next step up and be seen as a serious contender in the stairlift sector.
“The experience and knowledge they bring with them is going to be transformative for this company and we’re excited about what the future holds for Bespoke stairlifts.”
“Customer feedback has shown that providing a completely bespoke service ensures greater confidence in the end product as made-to-measure products are sturdier and subject to fewer problems post-sale. We use the latest design technology so our stairlifts fit perfectly into customers’ homes which improves the aesthetics and means better mechanical performance.”
He added: “Strong relationships with our partners are absolutely core to our business and unlike other well-known stairlift manufacturers we do not also sell direct to end-users so are not competing with our dealers.
“Not only do we now offer both straight and curved systems but we also provide a much more personalised service than some of the other big players and the reassurance that our products are made in Britain to the exact requirements of each customer is a big point of difference for us.”
