One of the most dominant mobility retailers in East Anglia has decided to close one of its branches after 11-years of serving customers in the local area.

Beactive Mobility closed its store in Diss last week because of increasing overheads and changes to parking rules introduced by the local council.

The retailer was founded in 2000 and now has three stores in East Anglia, with its head office in Lowestoft.

Managing director David Smith told a local newspaper that the costs of running a shop in Diss contributed to the decision to close the branch.

He told the Diss Express: “We have to go out to see customers a lot and, with deliveries, it’s become very difficult to park in the town since the council changed all the parking rules for the rear of the store and the car park in Chapel Street.”

He added: “We are sad about the branch closing – it is not something we wanted to do.”

Customers of Beactive’s Diss store will now be served by the dealer’s other stores.

Smith has built up Beactive Mobility to be one of the area’s key distributors and a top performing retailer for some of the main scooter manufacturers.
