Apple is reportedly looking at ways to make its AirPod earphones double up as hearing aids to better cater for disabled customers.
The tech giant is said to be investigating whether its wireless earbuds can be used as thermometers and hearing aids, with more features that would mitigate hearing loss, such as its new ‘Conversation Boost’ feature.
AirPods could also soon record a person’s body temperature from inside their ears.
Conversation Boost isolates the voice of the person in front of you, with Apple reportedly looking to augment its earbuds with new capabilities as the US government relaxes regulations on who can sell hearing aids.
A new model of AirPods is expected this year and the new AirPods Pro in 2022, but it’s not clear if any of these features will be included yet.
