AMP Awards Logo Mark Bates crop

The Dealer of the Year (North) award recognises the region’s top-performing mobility dealerships that have demonstrated commitment and innovation to drive their businesses, and the industry, forward, over what has been a challenging year.

We are delighted to announce that the 2019 shortlist includes the following dealers:

Dolphin Mobility Yorkshire and Cumbria

A key provider to both end-users and local authorities in the North, Dolphin Mobility Yorkshire and Cumbria is a bastion for quality products and excellent customer service. The firm is the preferred distributor for some of the top stairlift, lift and hoist manufacturers. It recently took on a new product from a European supplier, which praised Dolphin for establishing the equipment in a very competitive market. In the last 12 months, Dolphin has had great success in supplying one particular ceiling hoist. Gareth, Justin and the team have flourished in the last year and have formed some of the industry’s strongest partnerships with choice suppliers, and indeed customers.

Millercare

You cannot build a successful retail empire without a bedrock of scrupulous customer service, dedicated staff and quality servicing and products. Millercare certainly has all that. But in the last 12 months it has taken a number of steps to strengthen its proposition and solidify its portfolio. Tara Butterworth and her management team have introduced new levels of training and best practice across the business, which has meant that the staff are giving better product advice than ever before. These improvements have married up nicely with the exceptional work she has previously done in the service department, which has meant that the overall customer experience that Millercare delivers is exceptional. The company was highly commended by Motability in December.

Mobility Solutions

Mobility Solutions has made a name for itself on both sides of the border. Known as Scotland’s largest Motability dealer, the firm was placed in the top five retailers on the scheme for customer service in Q1 of 2019. Its two locations employ 15 members of staff, who have achieved a NPS score of 97. In the last year, the company has built on its open days to showcase what it believes is the largest product range in the region to local authorities and healthcare experts. Other innovations have included a pop-up mobility shop and a new in-store footwear concept, which has helped make it the largest retailer of Cosyfeet and Padders in Scotland.

Eden Mobility

With more than 30 stores to its name, Eden Mobility continues to be a dominant force in the mobility retail market. Revenues have increased by just over 4% to £11.6m, marking the third year it has achieved record sales. The business is clearly still hungry for more market share and has been investing in new and exciting product ranges to ensure it offers something different to its competitors. The firm has been consolidating in the last year and laying the foundations for further growth as it remains on track to achieve its goal of becoming a national high street retailer. Meanwhile, owners David Hughes and Karl Howe have aimed to keep in touch with local communities, replacing broken scooters for free and offering customers a lifeline when nearby mobility shops closed their doors.

ScootaMart

Consistently breaking monthly sales records in the last year, ScootaMart has begun reaping the rewards of the groundwork it began laying two years ago. Its store relocation programme has continued to drive higher footfall while it has negotiated low prices with suppliers by buying in bulk. Its ability to offer customers competitive prices has been complemented by a new marketing drive which saw it run an advertising campaign on ITV, helping to draw in customers from across the North West and beyond. ScootaMart’s relentless strategy for reaching more and more end-users with its products is strengthening what is already a bastion of mobility retail in the North.
