Clearwell Mobility is known as being one of the market’s most forward-thinking and modern businesses. In line with its new website, Clearwell has introduced a click-and-collect feature, which, unlike any others in the mobility industry, works on live stock feeds from all 12 showrooms and allows customers to collect their items within two hours from their chosen showroom. Customers now enjoy a much more convenient service. It has also implemented new environmental initiatives like a charge on plastic carrier bags, biodegradable packaging and a greener fleet of vans. Above all, in an age where consumers increasingly care about the environment and plastic pollution, Clearwell has implemented a bright business strategy.
There are many innovative mobility dealers who think outside of the box to develop their businesses. But Mark Davies of Marks Mobility has drawn on all his experience and expertise to bring an innovation to market that will not only transform his own business but could change – and indeed save – lives. The mobility scooter kill switch could not have launched at a better time. With accidents on the up and the market up in arms over scooter safety, Marks Mobility’s device could have a significant impact on safety. People at all ends of the supply chain have spoken up to see that Mark’s hard work, long days, nights and weekends are recognised.
Innovation is not just about inventing something radically new but can be found in a new approach to business sales, growth and meeting customer needs. By disrupting the ‘expected normal approach’, with a strong commitment to price transparency, Stuart Mobility has driven continuous growth both online and offline. In under four years the dealer has gone from £38,000 turnover to £238,000 in 2018/19. It regards its products as ‘investment pieces’ and has made price transparency a central part of its strategy. Its website shows basic prices and the cost of each product option. Through a number of small, carefully planned initiatives, Stuart Mobility has made marginal gains which are having a significant impact on the business.
Disability Trading Company (Warrington Disability Partnership)
Based on the values of its parent charity, Disability Trading Company has used its direct contact with tens of thousands of disabled people and their families to develop 27 services that help provide a one-stop-shop for all matters relating to mobility. Its latest service is a smart flat, bristling with assistive technology and showcasing some of the most advanced independent living products to end-users, healthcare and industry professionals. Over 200 health and social care professionals and dozens of families have visited the smart flat since it opened. From its eight retail outlets DTC has shown customers that mobility shops can offer a whole lot more than products alone.
Snowdrop Independent Living
South Wales retailer Snowdrop Independent Living completed a MBO earlier this year which included a £500,000 investment. The dealer and its new management team have wasted no time in bringing on new technology and investing in different ways of improving its showrooms. Bosses are making a conscious drive towards modernity and are developing a business that does not fit in with the traditional stereotype of a mobility shop. Bringing modern healthcare practices into the mobility sector, Snowdrop’s team is fast becoming an example of a quickly evolving and diverse dealership which is experimenting with new retail initiatives while maintaining core customer service principles.
