AMP AWARDS 2019 SHORTLIST: Dealer of the Year for Aftersales Support

The Dealer of the Year for Aftersales Support award recognises dealers that have demonstrated a clear commitment to the notion that a retailer’s job does not stop once a sale has been made and have acted to make their aftersales support among the best in the market.

Bromakin is well-trusted by both end-users and suppliers not only because of the customer service it offers at the point-of-sale, but also for the support it guarantees after the deal is done. Bromakin’s team are expert wheelchair makers and engineers. Their capabilities are such that nothing is ever a problem and no user is ever left waiting for a solution on a faulty or broken wheelchair. Their welcoming attitude is homely and unique and often means that once a customer deals with the dealer then they are a customer for life. Bromakin has insisted on continually communicating with manufacturers which helps to ensure the end-user receives rapid support when their equipment is out of action.

Exeter Disability Centre

Having secured accounts with Carbon Black, Mountain Trike and Motability in recent months, it is clear that Exeter Disability Centre has a solid aftersales process endorsed by top manufacturers. Dealing with complex mobility kit is EDC’s bread and butter and it regards aftersales support as important as product assessments. Its clinical expertise are backed up by in-depth equipment knowledge and workshop facilities, which ensure users are kept mobile when kit fails. This year the company has invested in training so that staff are able to support the most up-to-date equipment. Its investment in multi-pronged training ensures customers have ‘the whole package’.


As one of the market’s higher-end dealers, Recare is known for the service it provides to its clientele throughout the entire customer journey, ensuring aftersales support is one of its main focusses. In the last year Recare has considered its aftersales support to be a major factor on its growth and development. One of the latest developments at the dealer evidencing its superior support include being appointed as UK technical partner for exoskeleton manufacturer ReWalk Robotics. It also partnered with Ottobock in a new specialist seating clinic, showing Recare is being trusted as a dealer capable of providing the best aftersales service. It is a challenge to offer such strong support on such a wide product range but Recare’s experienced team is more than capable.

Abilitystore Ltd

Key to Abilitystore’s business strategy is its aftersales support. It has begun to invest more heavily in various initiatives in this field and has seen turnover grow by around 15% since it started a special aftersales services programme in 2017/2018. This year has been about building on its new support and it now provides an extra warranty for most products to keep customers loyal. The retailer believes that the special support it offers has enabled it to win new customers through word-of-mouth. The dealer also now has an expert to go out to visit customers at care homes to support purchases.

True Mobility

Recognised as Motability champion, True Mobility knows exactly what it takes to provide customers with an unrivalled aftersales service. It has redoubled the effort it puts into courtesy, speedy service and good communication with customers. Whenever a customer reports a breakdown the dealer strives to reach them on the same day to carry out the repair. If the repair is taking longer than expected it will call the customer just to keep them informed. Even if there is nothing to report, it lets them know they are not forgotten. True Mobility has also adopted a policy of keeping the same range of scooters in stock and not swapping brands and models just to look for a deal. This means it has a good range of spares to keep customers mobile.
