The Best Online Initiative award, sponsored by Arjo, recognises those dealers that have used the internet in forward-thinking and impressive ways to capitalise on the rapidly expanding world of e-commerce, improve the customer experience and advance their business.

We are delighted to announce that the 2019 shortlist includes the following dealers:

Complete Care Shop

Complete Care Shop was taken over by NRS Healthcare in 2018 and has – unsurprisingly – gone from strength to strength in recent months. Boasting one of the largest ranges of mobility products offered by any of the market’s retailers, Complete Care Shop is as its name suggests, comprehensive. Not satisfied with achieving volume alone, Complete Care Shop has invested in sales delivery and its team. It has proven that the sky is the limit and that there is no reason for end-users who choose to purchase through an online medium to receive poor service. Now the retailer is looking at improving its website and preparing itself for its next phase of growth.

Candor Care

Candor Care plays an important role in its local community, helping to keep immobile people independent. This year it has used the internet to extend the impact it has on customers by giving people the chance to have a stairlift donated to them. Candor recognised that having a stairlift installed can be unaffordable and after donating two stairlifts in 2018 as part of a competition, it decided to donate a reconditioned stairlift every month throughout 2019. It asks people to register their interest through Facebook or Twitter and then gets in touch to assess their needs. The local press is always keen to cover Candor’s work and it has generated a great deal of local interest online.

Manage at Home

Medequip’s mobility equipment retail arm, Manage At Home, has overhauled its online platform to make the experience quicker, easier and more pleasant for end-users. The new online offering has been developed around making product identification fast, easy and accurate, with features designed specifically to help users navigate and browse products matching their needs. With special collections such as bariatric, dementia friendly and telecare selections now included, Manage at Home appeals to more customers than ever before. The new product pages include high quality equipment images viewable in a light box overlay for added definition. Through its overhaul, Manage at Home has helped Medequip to improve its retail offering beyond any standards it previously held.

Ability Superstore

Few mobility businesses are as switched-on as Ability Superstore when it comes to online. The company is ever-present on social media channels and has spent the last year redoubling its efforts to make itself as competitive on the internet as it is in the flesh. Armed with a number of experts, including a digital marketing specialist, Ability Superstore has a well-trained, youthful team which has been able to ensure the business stays modern in what is an industry where many retailers often struggle to keep up. The firm recently struck a deal with a stairlift and bathroom equipment distributor but instead of stopping there, wasted no time in pushing the products online and on social media, ensuring initial sales were maximised.

John Preston Healthcare

Known across the mobility industry for its support and quality products, John Preston Healthcare is perhaps less well-known for its internet prowess. Nevertheless, online has formed a crucial part of the Northern Ireland-based distributor’s business this year. By showcasing its latest and greatest products online whenever they are released, John Preston Healthcare has been proactive in accessing customers outside of its immediate geographical sphere. The company’s online strategy acts as a window and gateway to its showrooms. While the business may not have the same physical presence as some of its competitors in terms of shop numbers, it certainly reaches more than most in the industry thanks largely to its recent online exploits.

The 2019 AMP Awards ceremony takes place on Monday 21 October at The Dressler, 113 Chancery Ln in London. It is free to attend for dealers. To register your interest, email
