Abacus Specialist Bathrooms providing contactless video assessments

Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions is offering video call assessments to potential clients during the coronavirus pandemic in order to stop the spread of the virus.

This means that occupational therapists can help disabled bathers without the need for a home visit.

The company prefers to work without customers, carers and occupational therapists before deciding on a solution.

Part of the Gainsborough Healthcare Group, Abacus is an award-winning manufacturer and installer of power-assisted baths and accessible bathrooms.

The company offers multiple video call platforms: Microsoft Teams, Starleaf, Zoom and WhatsApp.

Zoe Cocksedge, independent occupational therapist, explained: “Our Zoom video call was useful in that it helped fine-tune requirements for the client.

“The family were involved as well as the physiotherapist so we could discuss the types of baths available and which one would be the most suitable.

“We were also able, with the Abacus sssessor’s extensive knowledge, to look at postural management systems as the client has specific needs – these were uploaded during the call.”
