Hemel Hemstead-based dealer, ZTW Mobility, has put on a mobility scooter safety training day after a local care director learnt of the statistics surrounding scooter accidents.
Care service director Mike Bavington found that in 2016 there were 350 accidents and 14 fatalities involving mobility scooters in the UK, sparking ZTW to host the training day.
The safety session was held at The Market Square in Marlowes and attended by MP for Hemel Hempstead. Sir Mike Penning.
The dealer set up two test tracks designed for beginners and more experienced users with obstacles to simulate everyday challenges.
Locals are hoping for more events like this to be put on as the call for better safety surrounding mobility scooters grows louder.
