Two companies are sharing the glory of being crowned best Home Improvement Agency (HIA) Service of the Year in the Foundations HIA Awards.

Lincolnshire Home Independence Agency and Middlesbrough Staying Put came out on top, beating the likes of Millbrook Healthcare, to win the award which recognises excellence among home adaptations companies.

The agencies were recognised for how they organise house repairs, adaptations or improvements through their private works service.

The firms conduct visits to an end-user’s home, get estimates from and liaise with contractors and offer practical advice and a follow-up inspection of the work.

Care & Repair Worcestershire won this year’s Innovation Award and WE Care & Repair won Handyperson Service of the Year Award.

The HIA Awards is run by Foundations, the national body for home improvement agencies and recognises some of the most innovative services and inspirational teams in the sector.

The awards ceremony took place yesterday at the House of Lords and was hosted by Lord Richard Best.
