A shopping centre in Norwich has become the third location in Norwich to have had a Changing Places facility installed.
It brings the total number of such facilities in Norfolk and Waveney to seven and is part of shopping centre operator intu’s investment in access improvements.
The Changing Places toilet was installed at Chapelfield shopping centre and features specialist equipment including a height-adjustable changing bench, sink and specialist WC, in addition to a hoist.
Sheridan Smith, marketing manager at Chapelfield, told Eastern Daily Press: “There are currently fewer than 1,000 Changing Places facilities across the UK. We’ve listened to the customers who have requested that we install a Changing Places facility.
“We’ve been working with the Changing Places Consortium and our building services team to secure the right location and are delighted that it’s now ready for our customers to us.”
Recently, intu has been investing in improving facilities for disabled people across its sites. Closomat installed a Changing Places facility at its Merry Hill site this month in Dudley.
