Stechford Mobility has announced its charity partner for this year as Heartlands Hospital Charity, for which it hopes to raise £30,000 to help the hospital’s neonatal units, where premature newborns are cared for.

The charity was chosen partly because the dealer’s director, Martyn Thomas, witnessed the hospital’s work when his daughter, Lyla, was born in 2015. Lyla arrived nine weeks premature and weighed just 3lbs 7oz. With the help of staff at the Heartlands Hospital, she was provided with expert medical care, in a specialist neonatal intensive care unit.

“We will always be in debt to this amazing unit for the care and support they provided for both Lyla and ourselves… We are so passionate about this unit, it deserves every penny it can get to cover the costs and equipment of the fantastic care they provide,” said Martyn Thomas.

In 2017, Stechford Mobility donated seven specialist height-adjustable, comfortable armchairs to the unit.

To raise the £30,000, the retailer’s team will be taking part in events throughout the year, from long distance endurance races to a 300 mile sponsored scooter ride. It has set up a JustGiving page on its website for donations.
