Scottish mobility equipment dealer Mobility Solutions has agreed a sponsorship deal with the Glasgow Rocks Wheelchair Basketball team.
The company, which runs showrooms in Glasgow and Clyde Valley, will back the team for the 2018/19 season as they look to embark on a successful campaign.
Glasgow Rocks is Scotland’s only professional basketball team. They play in the British Basketball League (BBL) at the Emirates Arena, which can hold 7,000 spectators.
The club is credited with promoting healthy lifestyles and getting kids interested in basketball as they run a number of schemes to encourage community participation.
Alongside Junior Rocks and the Lady Rocks sections, Glasgow Rocks Wheelchair Basketball team is the newest addition to the Glasgow Rocks family. The team were formerly known as the St Mirren Warriors but have changed their name following a reorganisation.
The current line-up of players includes paralympian Gary Davidson and Bobby Park, who have both represented Great Britain at international level.
Partnerships and events executive, Lucy Bradley, said: “As Scotland’s largest mobility store, we’re excited to collaborate with such a popular Scottish sporting team to mutually spread brand awareness, and hopefully celebrate plenty of wins this season.
“Glasgow Rocks is a grassroots organisation that gives back to the communities and encourages active participation. We hope the representation and exposure will show wheelchair basketball as the exciting and dynamic sport that it is – proving that sport is for everyone.”
