Ottobock has announced the launch of its new Juvo powerchair range which is designed to offer high levels of reliability and safety.
A number of major dealers have already taken stock of the new range, which is designed to give people with varying medical conditions and specific needs the opportunity to have their chair well-tailored to them.
Having the choice of two options; front or rear wheel drive, the new Juvo chair aims to give its owner maximum independence.
“Due to its versatility, the most common type of drive is the rear wheel option”, said Simon Tempest, head of mobility solutions at Ottobock.
“As this offers a variety of possibilities in relation to speed combined with its attractive, well thought out design, the Juvo allows for optimum power distribution over the ground. The front wheel drive however, provides great performance when climbing which is extremely beneficial when encountering obstacles like hills and curbs”.
The Juvo range is suitable for a wide range of conditions including; Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Motor Neurone Disease, Spina Bifada and spinal injuries. The new wheelchair has a maximum weight limit of between 140kg and 160kg depending on the selected model.
Other features of the product include good directional stability, especially when travelling at speed, a wide range of possibilities to adapt the seating position and a relatively small turning circle. All of these factors, for ensuring safety and mobility for the people using the Juvo, are available on both the B5 or B6 models.
The seating solution plays an important part as the interface between the power chair and its user. A choice of seating is available to fully customise the power chair to properly match the needs of the person.
