A mobility retailer based in Newcastle and part of the Dolphin Lifts group has reported a record year of turnover after achieving more than £2m in sales.
Independent Living Showroom, run by managing director Bob Lines, has since expanded its 16-strong team and has put £35,000 into upgrading its showroom, buying in four new service vehicles and improving its website.
The dealership has been part of the Dolphin Lifts and Mobility group since 2012 when the stairlift manufacturer and distributor joined up with Shape Adaptations.
Lines said that following the business’s success in 2017 it is now implementing its strategic plan which includes creating more jobs and improving its offering.
“When people choose a company for their mobility needs they are not just looking for a quality product, they want to work with a company that understands their requirements too,” he told bdaily.
“Investing time and resources in training and education has reaped rewards for us as we are now an approved supplier for trusted brands such as Stannah and Osprey Healthcare. We have also earned a deserved good name and reputation across the region which has enabled us to expand the business further.”
The retailer launched its ILS Academy last year which is a new training arm designed to help other members of the market stay up to date with the latest continuing professional development (CPD) standards and benchmarks, care packages and trends in the industry.
Independent Living Showroom is an official distributor of brands including Stannah, Otolift, Meditek, AKW and HomeAdapt. It specialises in hoists, stair lifts, wetrooms, adapted kitchens and wheelchair ramps among other every day independent living solutions.
