Dave Thompson, who runs the Disability Trading Company alongside his son, Gavin, has described the firm’s recent accreditation from Motability as “the icing on the cake”.

The Disability Trading Company (DTC), which is the mobility retail arm of the Warrington Disability Partnership, announced that it was granted Motability status two weeks ago after a “five year journey” to gain accreditation.

Dave Thompson said that DTC has been in contact with Motability over the last few years and said he was pleased to have finally been accredited across all three of the DTC’s retail sites.

One of the main benefits Motability will bring, Thompson said, is that it will allow more customers access to DTC’s products.

“For us the big issue has been that we have been used to people paying on card or cash but since Christmas we’ve stepped up our game and introduced interest-free credit.

“Over the last 10 months there have been around 100 opportunities where Motability would have been an option for clients but we haven’t, until now, been able to [capitalise].”

Thompson concluded: “It’s great to be working alongside the big Motability businesses in the industry.

“It’s the icing on the cake.”
