Markus Grad, the CEO of British Medical Auctions, which specialises in selling medical and mobility equipment, is collaborating with The British Red Cross to help it find much-needed equipment.
Grad has offered to support the work of the Red Cross in Hampshire and beyond by encouraging his clients to join him in his support, and also by sourcing equipment from his auction lots to donate to the charity’s Mobility Aids and Crisis Response services.
In Hampshire, these services support the most vulnerable people in the county who are in need of a wheelchair or other mobility device, after injury or accident; or have an emergency such as fire, flood or forced evacuation.
Generally demand is greater than supply to borrow mobility equipment but it is hoped that with help from Grad and his contacts more people can access kit.
The Red Cross said: “Our thanks go to Markus and all at British Medical Auctions at the beginning of our association for all their support; we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
Red Cross equipment centres have struggled recently and many have been forced to close as funding is diverted to the areas the charity considers its priorities.
This is often areas hit by disasters where people need emergency care.
