A popular bar chain that removed accessible toilets from a flagship site in Aberdeen has come under fire and has received a legal notice demanding the facility to be replaced.

BrewDog was accused of “outrageous” treatment of disabled drinkers by a local SNP councillor when a customer complained about the disabled facilities being removed from the bar.

Michael Hutchison, SNP councillor and a member of the Disability Equity Partnership, said BrewDog should be ashamed of the move, according to the Evening Express.

He told the newspaper: “This is absolutely outrageous and beyond belief. BrewDog as a business leans heavily on its ‘equity for punks’ branding. But there is nothing equitable about this. I fully expect they’ll be working hard to fix this as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for BrewDog said it was “working closely with the planning officers to come up with a solution.” They said that the firm hopes to “sort something out very soon”.
