Invacare hopes to aid athletes’ quest for victory

Invacare has announced the latest athletes it is supporting ahead of the World Para Athletics Championships which take place in London next month.

Sports ambassadors and athletes, Hannah Cockcroft, Ben Rowlings, Andy Lapthorne and wheelchair tennis player Lucy Shuker are to receive support from the mobility supplier.

‘Hurricane’ Hannah Cockroft is a double world champion and Paralympic gold medallist in T34 wheelchair racing with a determination and positive attitude to succeed at whatever challenges life presents on or off the track, the company says.

Ben Rowlings is a T34 wheelchair racer with a string of successes to his name including British record holder in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m distances. He won a Bronze medal in the 2014 European Championships in 800m, and is the European record holder over the 800m distance.

Andy Lapthorne is a British wheelchair tennis player. He took up wheelchair tennis in 2005, and entered the quad division in 2008. He is active in both Singles and Doubles tournaments, and has won multiple doubles grand slams alongside his partner Peter Norfolk.

Lucy Shuker is sports ambassador for Invacare Top End products. She was injured in a motorbike accident at the age of 21. Whilst at Salisbury Spinal Unit she was introduced to wheelchair tennis. Currently Lucy trains in Taunton.
